This is the complete "CastAVote" suite for ArcBBS
(running on RISC OS). In 2009, following a
communication from CMS Ltd (who thinks they now own
the name "CastAVote", although it is not listed on
the registry of known UK trademarks), I have done a
simple rename of this software to "CastAWote", with
a "W", not a "V". This project is now to be known
by the title "CastAWote", although if you wish to
pronounce that as a German person would, that's
fine by me! :-)

*THIS* CastAV^HWote project bears absolutely NO
relationship WHATSOEVER to the CMS product that you
will find at www.castavote.co.uk. The origins of
this project can be traced back to the summer of
1994, and it was in use on numerous BBSs in 1998
which is approximately when I understand CMS to
have been started, and through ALL incarnations of
my website from ArgoNet to HeyRick (1996?7?-present)
the software has been publically available; so as
to the "rightful" owner of the name "CastAVote" - it
is now a question that bores me. I was there first
and could rightly argue that CMS simply didn't
bother to check if anybody else was using that name,
CMS on the other hand has put time and money behind
a commercial product. Neither of us have
'registered' the name with the arbitrary
authorities, so the only real solution is an awful
lot of legal nonsense. Thus, my (old) project will
now be called "CastAWote", and I will state here
that is bears NO relationship WHOSOEVER to the
service(s) offered by CMS. Furthermore, it would
appear that CMS is an Internet-based voting solution
for serious use. The closest my software gets to
distributed voting is a Fidonet gateway (the
Internet wasn't a big thing back when I wrote the
software - hell, it's an add-on for dial-up BBSs!),
I have *NO* intention whosoever of making an email
packet version, a Windows version, etc etc. If
anybody ELSE does, that's their prerogative. Our
products are related in that it is something to do
with third party 'users' being able to vote on
stuff. That's probably about where the similarities
cease.
So, okay, CastAWote it is then...

Note: NVP will identify itself in FTN strings as
"CastAVote". This is to avoid breaking existant
software which recognise that (and only that).
Apart from such ID strings, all other occurances
of the name should have been changed to the 'w'
versions. I have also taken a moment to tidy up
obsolete contact information (email via Digital
Databank / HeyRick support / 2:254/86.1, etc...).

These sources are supplied to you as this project
is no longer supported.

You can contact me informally if you require any
assistance - but no help will be routinely offered.
I last saw this code in 1997 when I was using an
A5000, and I had (for a decade now) thought it was
lost in a harddisc failure.
